The Finnish Lacrosse Association turns 10 this year.
The Association was founded late 2011 and since it has worked as the governing body of Finnish lacrosse, organizing among other things the Finnish lacrosse league, both for men and women.
Within these 10 years a lot has happened. Along the way there have been 16 men’s teams and 6 women’s teams. The national league has been played since 2005 and today consists of 8 men’s teams and 5 women’s teams.
We have supported our national teams since the beginning. Our national team participated in the lacrosse World Championships in Manchester last summer in 2010. The FLA has also organized the European Championships once in Lahti 2008. In the near future, we are proud to bring the world’s best under 19 year olds to compete for the title of World Champion to Turku in 2012. Finland has proven to be a capable and efficient lacrosse country.
New challenges for the FLA consist of further developing the game and growing the game among the youth of our country.
The Finnish Lacrosse Association will organize the first annual lacrosse gala after the on-going season is over to celebrate the 10th anniversary. All members and actors of the FLA are welcomed to join this event!
Thank you for the first 10 years and let’s make the other ten even better!
